Specialist Disability Accommodation
Perfect Care is a registered provider of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Participants who are eligible for SDA receive funding for their accommodation as part of their plan. The overall aim of SDA is to provide participants with more choice when it comes to their housing options. This includes deciding where they live and who they live with.
SDA is for specialised housing designed to support people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. SDA has been developed because some people with very high needs require special disability accommodation to enable them to receive the support they need where they live.
Every SDA property will have specific features, so participants need to check what features they require before looking for accommodation. Some of the features of SDA may include bathroom vanities and kitchen sinks being accessible in a sitting or standing position. It may also include consideration of safeguards throughout the property for the needs of residents with complex behaviours. In addition, it could also include all external doors areas be accessible by wheelchair. The over-riding design and features of SDA is to enable a resident to enjoy their home environment as much as possible.
The overall purpose of SDA is to provide the appropriate environment for residents to reach their goals, maximise their independence as well as social and community participation.
